Mt. Difficulty Wines

Mt. Difficulty was established in New Zealand’s trendy Central Otago region in 1998 as a boutique winery by four Bannockburn vineyard owners, with the aim of making a super-premium Otago Pinot Noir.

The Bannockburn soil with a mix of clays and gravels, ideal for viticulture, combined with the unique microclimate brought by the mountain itself is the perfect terroir for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. After a few short years of success Mt. Difficulty is now recognised as one of the leading Pinot Noir producers of the region if not the whole country.

Mt. Difficulty Wines Pinot Gris

The grapes for this wine come from four of this winery’s Bannockburn vineyards; Templars Hill, Long Gully, Bannockburn Bay and Ferris. The fruit was processed in a reductive manner and the wine was fermented cool to help maximize the varietal character. These techniques were also used to help enhance the complexity and textural aspects of the wine. Starting with fruity aromas of peach and nectarine, the palate is full and well textured, showing firm backbone. This creamy and fleshy wine has an impressive tropical finish.
