Kilikanoon

Killikanoon has established itself as one of the real superstars of the Clare Valley. Owner and head of winemaking, Kevin Mitchell has had winemaking experience in many international and domestic wineries ranging from Krondorf, d’Arenberg, Kingston Estate and Orlando to BRL Hardy, Kendal Jackson and Willamette Valley (USA). In 1998 he released the first 2 wines under the Kilikanoon name.

The Mitchell family has been growing grapes in the Clare Valley for more than 30 years and in 1997 Kevin purchased the facility known as Kilikanoon. The main grape varieties, Shiraz, Riesling and Cabernet were planted on Mort’s Block and Block Road vineyards in the Leasingham area of Clare Valley 25 years ago giving them some of the oldest vines in the region.

Kilikanoon Killerman’s Run Cabernet Sauvignon

A classic Cabernet style. The characteristics of the grapes are evident in the abundant fruitiness. The concept behind the Killerman’s Run series was to produce a wine from the best area in South Australia that was a good balance of quality and price. This wine reflects this philosophy beautifully. Harvesting is done completely by hand and the wine is aged in small old and new barrels for 2 years. This Cabernet Sauvignon is inky red in color with purple hues. Aromas of sweet berry fruits and spicy French oak characters feature on the nose. On the palate, sweet berry fruits and hints of leafy tobacco combine to create a smooth, seamless palate, further enhanced by the supportive oak characters and fine tannins on the finish. ■ Grape Variety 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
