100% Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir from Joseph Phelps Freestone Vineyards.
The 2012 Fogdog Pinot Noir boasts dark cherry and Freestone spice followed by fresh earth and hints of toasty oak. Bright, with balanced acidity and nice texture, this wine is filled with lush red raspberry, cherry compote and savory herbs leading to a pleasing long finish touched by wild mushroom and baking spices.

2012 should drink well for 25-30+ years.
During the Fogdog blending process, wines are chosen that reflect ripe fruit characteristics in addition to texture and acidity that are approachable at release.
Joseph Phelps, who spent his early years as a working member of a farm family, founded the winery and vineyards which bears his name in 1972. This carefully brought up vineyard, situated in Spring Valley near St. Helena, is surrounded by undulating cattle farms, oak forests and abundant nature.
Long known for his innovative spirit and passion for quality, Joseph Phelps pioneered a number of “firsts” in the early years of the winery. The 1974 Insignia, released in the spring of 1978, was the first Bordeaux-style blend produced in California under a proprietary label. Varietals produced at Phelps include Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Backus Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and the Insignia which due to its smooth mellowness and deep flavors, is recognised as one of the top icon wines from the Napa region.
