Originally from northern Italy, this is the emblematic grape of our region due to its slow maturation with cool nights giving its full varietal expression. Dry but full and intensely aromatic.
The house of Hugel was established in Riquewihr, a town in a continental cultivation area with no climatic influence from the Atlantic Ocean, in the Alsace district in 1639.
The Hugel family has kept up the golden rule that “The quality of the wine depends on the grapes themselves” for more than 12 generations over 360 years and it has made its mark on grape cultivation and winemaking history. Starting with its Generic wine that expresses the characteristics of each grape variety and vintage, Famille Hugel boasts a superior line-up with the Jubilee which is made from only handpicked harvests from the best sections, the Vendange Tardive, made from late harvested grapes and the Selection de Grains Nobles using grapes affected by noble rot.
Having started on the wine lists of the finest restaurants in France, the famous name of Famille Hugel is known all over the world and is currently exported to 120 countries.
